White-Glove Delivery Terms

WHITE-GLOVE DELIVERY TERMS

Effective upon posting

NC Discount Furniture is pleased to offer White-Glove Delivery on qualifying merchandise and to qualifying delivery locations.

White-Glove Delivery is designed to provide an enhanced furniture-delivery experience that may include scheduled delivery, in-home placement, unpacking, basic assembly when included with the applicable order, and removal of packaging materials.

Because NC Discount Furniture works with multiple manufacturers, warehouses, freight carriers, and delivery providers, the exact services available may vary by product, manufacturer, delivery location, and carrier.

These White-Glove Delivery Terms explain the responsibilities of NC Discount Furniture, our delivery partners, and the customer.

1. WHAT IS WHITE-GLOVE DELIVERY?

White-Glove Delivery is an enhanced delivery service for qualifying furniture orders.

Depending on the product and delivery service purchased or included with the order, White-Glove Delivery may include:

  • Delivery by a furniture-delivery provider;

  • Delivery appointment scheduling;

  • Delivery inside the customer's residence;

  • Placement in a designated room of choice;

  • Unpacking of the merchandise;

  • Basic furniture assembly when expressly included;

  • Placement of the assembled merchandise; and

  • Removal of ordinary packaging materials associated with the delivered merchandise.

The exact services included with a customer's order are determined by the delivery method identified on the product page, order confirmation, delivery quote, or other written communication from NC Discount Furniture.

2. WHITE-GLOVE DELIVERY IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR EVERY PRODUCT OR LOCATION

White-Glove Delivery availability depends on factors including:

  • Product

  • Manufacturer

  • Vendor

  • Warehouse

  • Customer location

  • Delivery provider

  • Product dimensions and weight

  • Accessibility of the delivery location

  • Available carrier services

Some merchandise may instead ship by:

  • UPS

  • FedEx

  • USPS

  • LTL freight

  • Threshold delivery

  • Curbside delivery

  • Front-door delivery

  • Another delivery method

The delivery service applicable to one product does not necessarily apply to other merchandise in the same order.

3. "FREE SHIPPING" DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN WHITE-GLOVE DELIVERY

If merchandise is advertised with Free Shipping, Free Delivery, or shipping included in the purchase price, this does not automatically mean that White-Glove Delivery is included.

The product page, checkout information, order confirmation, or written delivery quote will determine the applicable delivery service.

White-Glove Delivery may be:

  • Included with qualifying merchandise;

  • Available as an optional upgrade;

  • Quoted separately; or

  • Unavailable for certain merchandise or locations.

4. ROOM-OF-CHOICE DELIVERY

When Room-of-Choice placement is included, the delivery team will make reasonable efforts to place the merchandise in the customer's designated room.

Room-of-Choice service is subject to:

  • Safe access;

  • Sufficient doorway clearance;

  • Sufficient hallway clearance;

  • Sufficient stairway clearance;

  • Sufficient ceiling clearance;

  • Sufficient elevator dimensions;

  • Reasonable maneuvering space;

  • Building requirements; and

  • Delivery-provider safety requirements.

The delivery team is not required to attempt placement when doing so could reasonably cause injury, damage to the merchandise, damage to the property, or unsafe working conditions.

5. CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MEASURING

Customers are responsible for confirming that furniture will fit through the entire delivery path before purchasing.

Please measure:

  • Exterior doors

  • Interior doors

  • Door frames

  • Hallways

  • Corners

  • Stairways

  • Stair landings

  • Ceiling height

  • Elevators

  • Elevator doors

  • Building entrances

  • Gates

  • Breezeways

  • Intended room

  • Other relevant access points

Customers should compare these measurements with the product's dimensions.

Remember that furniture must not merely fit in the intended room. It must also be capable of being safely moved through every part of the delivery path.

6. FURNITURE THAT DOES NOT FIT

If merchandise cannot fit through the available delivery path or into the intended room, the merchandise is not considered damaged or defective.

The delivery team may:

  • Place the merchandise in another accessible location approved by the customer;

  • Provide the highest level of delivery reasonably possible;

  • Return the merchandise to the delivery facility; or

  • Follow another appropriate procedure.

If merchandise cannot be delivered because of insufficient access, the customer may be responsible, where permitted by law, for applicable:

  • Redelivery charges

  • Storage fees

  • Return freight

  • Outbound freight

  • Handling fees

  • Additional labor

  • Specialized-delivery charges

  • Other costs resulting from the failed delivery

An item that does not fit is not automatically eligible for cancellation, return, or refund.

Any request to return such merchandise is governed by the NC Discount Furniture Return & Refund Policy.

7. DELIVERY PATH MUST BE CLEARED

Before the delivery team arrives, customers must provide a clear and reasonably safe path from the delivery vehicle to the intended room.

Customers should remove:

  • Existing furniture blocking the route

  • Boxes

  • Rugs that could create a trip hazard

  • Plants

  • Lamps

  • Decorative objects

  • Wall décor near tight access points

  • Children's toys

  • Pet equipment

  • Other obstacles

Please secure pets and keep children safely away from the active delivery area.

8. EXISTING FURNITURE WILL NOT GENERALLY BE MOVED

Unless expressly included in a separate service purchased by the customer, delivery personnel will not:

  • Move existing furniture;

  • Rearrange existing furniture;

  • Remove existing furniture;

  • Dispose of old furniture;

  • Haul away mattresses;

  • Move appliances;

  • Move electronics;

  • Remove mounted televisions;

  • Clear rooms for delivery.

The intended delivery area should be ready before the delivery team arrives.

9. BASIC ASSEMBLY

When assembly is expressly included with White-Glove Delivery, the delivery provider will perform ordinary furniture assembly reasonably necessary to set up the delivered product.

Examples may include:

  • Attaching furniture legs;

  • Attaching standard hardware;

  • Connecting sectional components;

  • Installing ordinary shelves;

  • Assembling tables;

  • Assembling beds;

  • Performing other basic manufacturer-intended furniture assembly.

The exact level of assembly depends on the product and delivery service.

10. SERVICES NOT INCLUDED

Unless specifically agreed to in writing and included in the customer's order, White-Glove Delivery does not include:

  • Wall mounting

  • Television mounting

  • Mirror mounting

  • Artwork installation

  • Anchoring furniture to walls

  • Electrical wiring

  • Electrical modifications

  • Hardwiring

  • Plumbing

  • Gas connections

  • Construction

  • Carpentry

  • Door removal

  • Window removal

  • Railing removal

  • Structural modifications

  • Cabinet installation

  • Custom furniture modification

  • Furniture refinishing

  • Moving existing furniture

  • Disposal of existing furniture

  • Mattress removal

  • Debris removal unrelated to the delivered merchandise

Customers must arrange separately for any specialized work not included with their delivery service.

11. PACKAGING REMOVAL

When packaging removal is included, the delivery team will generally remove ordinary packaging materials associated with the delivered merchandise after setup.

This may include:

  • Cardboard

  • Plastic

  • Foam

  • Protective wrapping

  • Manufacturer packing materials

However, if merchandise appears damaged, customers should not permit relevant packaging to be discarded until the damage has been documented.

NC Discount Furniture, the manufacturer, or the carrier may require packaging photographs or other documentation for a damage claim.

12. DELIVERY SCHEDULING

White-Glove Delivery generally requires an appointment.

After merchandise reaches the appropriate local delivery facility or otherwise becomes ready for final delivery, the delivery provider may contact the customer by:

  • Telephone

  • Text message

  • Email

to arrange delivery.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate contact information and responding to delivery-scheduling communications.

13. DELIVERY DATES AND WINDOWS

Delivery appointments may be scheduled for a particular date and delivery window.

Exact arrival times generally cannot be guaranteed.

Delivery windows may be affected by:

  • Previous deliveries

  • Traffic

  • Weather

  • Road conditions

  • Truck delays

  • Building access

  • Delivery complexity

  • Other circumstances

Customers should make appropriate arrangements to be available throughout the confirmed delivery window.

14. AN ADULT MUST BE PRESENT

A responsible adult who is at least 18 years old must generally be present to:

  • Grant access;

  • Direct room placement;

  • Inspect merchandise;

  • Make reasonable delivery decisions; and

  • Sign delivery documentation.

The person accepting the delivery is considered authorized to inspect and accept the merchandise on behalf of the customer.

15. APARTMENTS, CONDOMINIUMS & MANAGED BUILDINGS

Customers are responsible for identifying and satisfying building requirements before scheduling delivery.

This may include:

  • Reserving an elevator;

  • Reserving a loading dock;

  • Obtaining building approval;

  • Scheduling delivery hours;

  • Providing gate access;

  • Providing security access;

  • Obtaining parking authorization;

  • Providing a Certificate of Insurance requirement;

  • Identifying height or truck restrictions;

  • Paying building-required fees.

Please notify NC Discount Furniture of unusual building requirements as early as possible.

Failure to satisfy building requirements may result in a failed delivery and additional charges.

16. CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE

Some buildings require delivery companies to provide a Certificate of Insurance, sometimes called a COI.

Customers are responsible for notifying NC Discount Furniture or the delivery provider of the requirement sufficiently in advance of delivery.

We will make reasonable efforts to coordinate an available COI with the applicable delivery provider.

NC Discount Furniture cannot guarantee that every carrier will satisfy every building's insurance requirements.

Delivery may need to be rescheduled if required documentation cannot be completed before the appointment.

17. STAIRS

Delivery involving stairs may be subject to:

  • Product limitations;

  • Carrier limitations;

  • Safety requirements; and

  • Additional charges.

Some delivery services may include a limited number of stair flights, while others may impose additional charges for stairs.

If your delivery requires stairs, especially multiple flights or unusually narrow or difficult stairways, notify NC Discount Furniture before delivery.

Additional charges may apply when the applicable delivery provider imposes additional labor or stair fees.

18. DIFFICULT OR UNUSUAL ACCESS

Additional charges or delivery restrictions may apply to locations involving:

  • Multiple flights of stairs

  • Narrow stairways

  • Spiral staircases

  • Steep driveways

  • Long carries

  • Limited truck access

  • Rural roads

  • Gated communities

  • Ferry access

  • Remote areas

  • Restricted parking

  • Construction zones

  • Unpaved access

  • Unusually tight spaces

Customers should disclose unusual delivery conditions before shipment whenever reasonably possible.

19. SAFE DELIVERY CONDITIONS

The delivery team may decline to complete all or part of an in-home delivery when conditions are reasonably unsafe.

Examples may include:

  • Unsafe stairs

  • Active construction

  • Structural hazards

  • Aggressive animals

  • Unsanitary conditions

  • Ice or severe weather

  • Inadequate lighting

  • Unsafe flooring

  • Hazardous materials

  • Threatening behavior

  • Other conditions creating an unreasonable safety risk

If possible, the delivery may be rescheduled after the unsafe condition has been corrected.

Applicable redelivery or storage charges may apply when the unsafe condition was within the customer's reasonable control.

20. PROTECTING YOUR HOME

Customers should remove fragile or valuable objects from the delivery path before the delivery team arrives.

This includes:

  • Artwork

  • Mirrors

  • Decorative objects

  • Electronics

  • Lamps

  • Floor décor

  • Other fragile property

Please notify the delivery team of:

  • Delicate flooring

  • Unusual wall finishes

  • Low ceilings

  • Fragile architectural features

  • Other conditions requiring particular care

Delivery providers are expected to exercise reasonable care during delivery.

Any property-damage concern should be documented and reported promptly.

21. DELIVERY APPOINTMENT CHANGES

If you need to change a confirmed delivery appointment, contact the delivery provider or NC Discount Furniture as soon as possible.

The ability to reschedule depends on:

  • Carrier availability

  • Delivery route

  • Warehouse schedule

  • Product location

Repeated or late rescheduling may result in additional storage, redelivery, or administrative charges imposed by the delivery provider.

22. MISSED DELIVERY

If a customer or authorized adult is unavailable during a confirmed delivery appointment, the delivery may be considered unsuccessful.

The customer may be responsible for applicable:

  • Redelivery charges

  • Storage charges

  • Additional freight

  • Carrier fees

  • Handling charges

A missed delivery does not cancel the order.

23. FAILURE TO RESPOND TO DELIVERY SCHEDULING

Customers must reasonably cooperate with the delivery provider to schedule and receive merchandise.

If repeated attempts to contact the customer are unsuccessful, merchandise may be placed into storage.

The customer may be responsible for applicable storage and subsequent delivery costs where permitted by law.

Failure to respond to delivery scheduling does not constitute cancellation of the order.

24. STORAGE FEES

If merchandise reaches the local delivery facility but cannot be delivered because of circumstances within the customer's control, storage fees may apply.

Examples include:

  • Customer is not ready to receive the merchandise;

  • Construction is incomplete;

  • Customer repeatedly postpones delivery;

  • Building access is unavailable;

  • Customer fails to respond to scheduling;

  • Customer misses scheduled appointments.

Any storage charges imposed by the warehouse or delivery provider may be passed through to the customer where permitted by law.

25. ADDRESS CHANGES

Contact NC Discount Furniture immediately if the delivery address changes.

Once merchandise has shipped, an address change may:

  • Be unavailable;

  • Delay delivery;

  • Require carrier approval;

  • Require rerouting;

  • Result in additional freight charges;

  • Require transfer to another delivery facility.

Applicable additional costs caused by a customer-requested address change may be the customer's responsibility.

Do not assume an address has been changed until NC Discount Furniture confirms the change.

26. INSPECT MERCHANDISE DURING DELIVERY

Customers should inspect furniture before the delivery team leaves whenever reasonably possible.

Check:

  • The entire item

  • Upholstery

  • Wood surfaces

  • Glass

  • Stone

  • Hardware

  • Legs

  • Drawers

  • Doors

  • Mechanisms

  • Electrical functions when reasonably practical

  • Quantity delivered

Please identify visible damage immediately.

27. VISIBLE DAMAGE

If visible damage is identified:

  1. Photograph the damage.

  2. Photograph the full furniture item.

  3. Photograph packaging when available.

  4. Inform the delivery team.

  5. Clearly note the damage on the delivery receipt or Proof of Delivery before signing whenever possible.

  6. Retain a photograph or copy of the delivery documentation.

  7. Contact NC Discount Furniture promptly.

Do not sign a statement saying merchandise was received in good condition when significant visible damage is present.

28. CONCEALED DAMAGE

Some damage may not be apparent during the initial delivery inspection.

If concealed damage is discovered after the delivery team leaves, contact NC Discount Furniture promptly and follow the procedures described in our Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy.

Retain relevant packaging until instructed otherwise.

29. DAMAGE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY REQUIRE REFUSAL

Customers should not automatically refuse an entire delivery because one item or component has damage.

Depending on the circumstances, an appropriate remedy may include:

  • Professional furniture repair

  • Replacement part

  • Replacement component

  • Manufacturer service

  • Replacement merchandise

  • Another appropriate resolution

When possible, contact NC Discount Furniture before refusing merchandise.

30. REFUSED DELIVERY

Refusing merchandise does not automatically cancel an order or entitle the customer to a refund.

Unauthorized refusal of otherwise conforming merchandise may result in:

  • Outbound freight charges

  • Return freight charges

  • Storage charges

  • Handling fees

  • Redelivery fees

  • Other carrier or warehouse expenses

which may be the customer's responsibility where permitted by law.

Damage-related delivery issues are handled under the NC Discount Furniture Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy.

31. MULTIPLE ITEMS MAY ARRIVE SEPARATELY

Orders containing merchandise from multiple manufacturers or warehouses may be delivered separately.

Different portions of an order may:

  • Ship on different dates;

  • Use different carriers;

  • Have different delivery methods;

  • Require separate appointments.

A partial delivery does not necessarily mean merchandise is missing.

NC Discount Furniture will provide available shipment information as appropriate.

32. PRODUCT ASSEMBLY OR SETUP PROBLEMS

If the delivery team performs assembly and the customer believes the furniture was assembled incorrectly or damaged during assembly, notify the delivery team and NC Discount Furniture promptly.

Photographs should be taken before the delivery team leaves whenever reasonably possible.

Do not attempt substantial corrective work until the issue has been documented.

33. POWER FURNITURE

For powered furniture, White-Glove Delivery may include ordinary connection of manufacturer-provided power components when permitted by the delivery provider.

White-Glove Delivery does not include:

  • Installing electrical outlets;

  • Modifying household wiring;

  • Running wiring through walls;

  • Providing extension cords;

  • Performing electrical construction.

The customer is responsible for having an appropriate electrical outlet available.

34. WALL ANCHORING

Furniture-tip restraints or wall anchors may be included with certain products.

Unless expressly included with the customer's delivery service, White-Glove Delivery does not include permanently attaching furniture to walls.

Customers are responsible for following manufacturer safety instructions concerning furniture anchoring and obtaining an appropriate qualified installer when required.

35. OLD FURNITURE REMOVAL

White-Glove Delivery does not include removal, donation, disposal, or relocation of existing furniture unless specifically stated in writing.

Customers must arrange for old furniture removal separately and clear the delivery area before the appointment.

36. DELIVERY PROVIDERS

NC Discount Furniture may use:

  • Manufacturer delivery services;

  • Furniture-delivery companies;

  • Freight carriers;

  • Local delivery agents;

  • Third-party logistics companies;

  • Other qualified service providers.

The specific delivery provider may vary by order and location.

The delivery provider may contact the customer directly to coordinate final delivery.

37. DELIVERY ESTIMATES

Estimated delivery dates are estimates unless expressly stated as guaranteed.

White-Glove orders may require additional transit and handling time because merchandise may travel from the manufacturer's warehouse to a regional or local furniture-delivery facility before final delivery is scheduled.

Factors such as manufacturer availability, freight transportation, weather, carrier schedules, and regional delivery routes may affect timing.

NC Discount Furniture will comply with applicable laws regarding shipment representations and qualifying shipment delays.

38. WEATHER & EVENTS OUTSIDE REASONABLE CONTROL

Delivery may be delayed or rescheduled because of circumstances such as:

  • Severe weather

  • Hurricanes

  • Snow or ice

  • Flooding

  • Road closures

  • Natural disasters

  • Carrier disruptions

  • Vehicle breakdowns

  • Government restrictions

  • Other conditions affecting safe transportation or delivery

Safety takes priority over maintaining a scheduled appointment.

NC Discount Furniture and the applicable delivery provider will make reasonable efforts to reschedule affected deliveries.

39. CUSTOMER-REQUESTED SPECIAL SERVICES

If a customer requests delivery services outside the service included with the order, additional charges may apply.

Examples may include:

  • Additional stair carries

  • Long-distance carries

  • Special scheduling

  • Additional labor

  • Storage

  • Redelivery

  • Specialized equipment

  • Additional setup services

Any available special-service charges should be approved before the service is performed whenever reasonably practicable.

40. DELIVERY COMPLETION

A White-Glove Delivery is generally considered completed when the delivery provider has performed the services included with the order and the customer or authorized representative has accepted the merchandise.

Customers should review delivery paperwork carefully before signing.

Any visible problems should be documented as described in these terms.

41. PROPERTY DAMAGE CLAIMS

If you believe the delivery provider damaged your property during delivery:

  1. Notify the delivery team before they leave whenever possible.

  2. Photograph the affected area immediately.

  3. Photograph the surrounding area.

  4. Note the issue on available delivery documentation.

  5. Contact NC Discount Furniture promptly.

Do not repair or dispose of damaged property before adequate documentation has been obtained unless immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent additional damage or injury.

NC Discount Furniture may coordinate with the applicable delivery provider or its insurer regarding the claim.

42. RELATIONSHIP TO OUR DAMAGED & DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE POLICY

Merchandise damage, manufacturing defects, missing components, and incorrect merchandise are governed primarily by the NC Discount Furniture Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy.

White-Glove Delivery does not convert a damage claim into an automatic return or refund.

43. RELATIONSHIP TO OUR RETURN & REFUND POLICY

An unsuccessful delivery resulting from:

  • Furniture that does not fit;

  • Customer preference;

  • Buyer's remorse;

  • Customer-provided incorrect measurements;

  • Customer refusal;

  • Failure to provide access;

does not automatically make merchandise eligible for return.

Any return request is governed by the NC Discount Furniture Return & Refund Policy.

44. RELATIONSHIP TO OUR CANCELLATION POLICY

Once merchandise has reached the delivery stage, cancellation generally is no longer available as an ordinary cancellation request.

The NC Discount Furniture Cancellation & Order Change Policy governs cancellation eligibility.

Refusing delivery is not a substitute for an approved cancellation.

45. LEGALLY REQUIRED RIGHTS

Nothing in these White-Glove Delivery Terms is intended to waive, restrict, or eliminate any consumer protection, warranty, damage claim, refund right, or other legal remedy that cannot lawfully be waived or restricted.

Where applicable federal, state, or local law requires a different remedy or obligation, applicable law controls.
