Shipping and Delivery Policy

SHIPPING & DELIVERY POLICY

Effective upon posting

Thank you for shopping with NC Discount Furniture.

NC Discount Furniture works with furniture manufacturers, distributors, warehouses, freight carriers, and specialized delivery providers throughout the United States. Depending on the merchandise purchased, your order may ship directly from a manufacturer or distributor, from a third-party warehouse, or through another approved fulfillment partner.

Because furniture varies significantly in size, weight, construction, warehouse location, and delivery requirements, shipping methods and delivery timelines vary by product.

This Shipping & Delivery Policy explains how orders are processed, shipped, tracked, scheduled, and delivered.

1. SHIPPING & DELIVERY METHODS

NC Discount Furniture selects an appropriate shipping or delivery method based on factors including:

  • Product size

  • Product weight

  • Manufacturer

  • Warehouse location

  • Customer location

  • Product handling requirements

  • Available carrier services

  • Delivery service purchased or included with the order

An order may be delivered using one or more of the following methods:

Small-Parcel Delivery

Smaller merchandise may ship through carriers such as:

  • UPS

  • FedEx

  • USPS

  • Another small-parcel carrier

Small-parcel merchandise is generally delivered to the address provided at checkout.

Assembly may be required.

Freight / LTL Delivery

Larger furniture may ship through a Less-Than-Truckload, freight, or specialized furniture carrier.

Depending on the service level, freight delivery may include:

  • Curbside delivery

  • Threshold delivery

  • First dry-area delivery

  • Building-entrance delivery

  • Another specified service level

Assembly generally is not included unless expressly stated.

Room-of-Choice Delivery

When Room-of-Choice Delivery is included or purchased, the delivery provider will make reasonable efforts to place the merchandise in an accessible room selected by the customer.

Assembly and packaging removal are not automatically included unless expressly stated.

White-Glove Delivery

Qualifying merchandise may include or offer White-Glove Delivery.

Depending on the applicable delivery service, White-Glove Delivery may include:

  • Scheduled delivery

  • In-home delivery

  • Room-of-choice placement

  • Unpacking

  • Basic assembly

  • Packaging removal

White-Glove Delivery is governed by the separate NC Discount Furniture White-Glove Delivery Terms.

The exact services included with a customer's order will be determined by the product listing, order confirmation, delivery quote, or other written communication from NC Discount Furniture.

2. DIFFERENT PRODUCTS MAY HAVE DIFFERENT DELIVERY METHODS

Products within the same order may:

  • Come from different manufacturers

  • Ship from different warehouses

  • Use different carriers

  • Ship on different dates

  • Have different delivery service levels

  • Require separate delivery appointments

For example, a decorative accessory may arrive by UPS while a dining table from the same order arrives through a specialized furniture carrier.

A partial shipment does not necessarily mean that merchandise is missing.

3. VENDOR-DIRECT & DROP-SHIP ORDERS

Many products sold by NC Discount Furniture are shipped directly from the applicable:

  • Manufacturer

  • Distributor

  • Warehouse

  • Fulfillment partner

This means merchandise may not physically pass through an NC Discount Furniture facility before reaching the customer.

NC Discount Furniture remains the customer's point of contact for order questions, shipment information, and assistance with delivery issues.

4. ORDER RECEIPT

After an order is placed, customers will generally receive an electronic order confirmation.

An order confirmation confirms that NC Discount Furniture has received the order.

It does not necessarily mean that:

  • Manufacturer inventory has been allocated

  • A manufacturer has accepted the order

  • The merchandise has entered production

  • The merchandise has shipped

  • A specific delivery date has been guaranteed

NC Discount Furniture may need to confirm product availability, vendor acceptance, pricing information, delivery service, or other fulfillment details after an order is received.

5. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY

Furniture inventory can change quickly.

Availability information may originate from manufacturers, distributors, warehouses, electronic inventory feeds, or other vendor sources.

For merchandise without real-time inventory synchronization, availability may be subject to manufacturer confirmation.

If merchandise becomes unavailable after an order is placed, NC Discount Furniture will contact the customer and provide available options, which may include:

  • Updated availability

  • Backorder information

  • An alternative product

  • Cancellation and refund of unavailable merchandise when appropriate

The customer is not required to accept substitute merchandise.

6. PROCESSING TIME

Order processing time and shipping time are different.

Processing time may include:

  • Payment verification

  • Fraud review

  • Vendor order submission

  • Manufacturer acknowledgment

  • Inventory allocation

  • Product preparation

  • Production for made-to-order merchandise

  • Warehouse transfer

  • Freight preparation

  • Carrier scheduling

Processing times vary by manufacturer and product.

7. ESTIMATED SHIP DATES

When NC Discount Furniture provides an estimated ship date or estimated shipping timeframe, that estimate represents our reasonable expectation based on information available from the manufacturer, distributor, or fulfillment partner at that time.

An estimated ship date is not necessarily the date the merchandise will arrive at the customer's home.

Ship date generally means the date merchandise leaves the manufacturer, distributor, warehouse, or other fulfillment facility.

8. ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATES

Delivery estimates may include additional time after shipment for:

  • Freight transit

  • Transfer between terminals

  • Regional delivery processing

  • Inspection

  • Appointment scheduling

  • White-Glove scheduling

  • Last-mile delivery

Unless expressly identified as guaranteed, delivery dates and delivery windows are estimates.

Furniture delivery frequently requires more time than ordinary parcel shipping.

9. MADE-TO-ORDER & SPECIAL-ORDER MERCHANDISE

Made-to-order, custom, or special-order furniture may have substantially longer fulfillment periods.

Examples may include:

  • Custom upholstery

  • Customer-selected fabrics

  • Customer-selected leathers

  • Special finishes

  • Custom configurations

  • Merchandise manufactured specifically for the customer's order

Estimated production and shipping times will be based on the manufacturer's information available at the time of purchase.

Production schedules may change.

Applicable cancellation restrictions are governed by the NC Discount Furniture Cancellation & Order Change Policy.

10. SHIPPING REPRESENTATIONS & DELAYS

NC Discount Furniture intends to provide shipping estimates that are supported by information reasonably available to us at the time the estimate is made.

If we learn that merchandise cannot ship within the timeframe represented to the customer, NC Discount Furniture will provide any delay notice, request for consent, cancellation opportunity, or refund required by applicable law.

If no shipping timeframe is provided, NC Discount Furniture will comply with applicable legal requirements governing internet-order shipment timing.

Our Cancellation, Return, or All Sales Final policies do not eliminate any shipment-delay cancellation or refund right that applicable law requires us to provide.

11. BACKORDERS

A product may become backordered because of:

  • Manufacturer inventory changes

  • Production delays

  • Material shortages

  • Increased demand

  • Transportation delays

  • Warehouse delays

  • Other supply-chain conditions

If merchandise becomes backordered, NC Discount Furniture will provide updated information when reasonably available.

A backorder does not automatically cancel an order.

However, if a shipping delay creates a cancellation or refund right under applicable law, NC Discount Furniture will provide the required option.

12. SHIPPING NOTIFICATIONS

When tracking or shipment information becomes available, NC Discount Furniture may send customers a shipment notification by email, text message, or through their online order-status page.

Shipment information may include:

  • Carrier

  • Tracking number

  • PRO number

  • Shipment date

  • Order status

  • Delivery instructions

  • Scheduling information

Tracking availability varies by carrier and delivery method.

13. TRACKING INFORMATION

Small-parcel orders generally receive a conventional tracking number.

Furniture freight orders may instead receive:

  • Freight tracking number

  • PRO number

  • Bill of Lading number

  • Carrier reference number

  • Delivery-provider reference number

Some furniture carriers provide limited tracking while merchandise is traveling between freight terminals.

A lack of frequent tracking scans does not necessarily mean the shipment has stopped moving.

14. DELIVERY SCHEDULING

Large furniture deliveries frequently require an appointment.

Once merchandise reaches the appropriate delivery terminal or local delivery provider, the carrier may contact the customer by:

  • Telephone

  • Text message

  • Email

to arrange delivery.

Customers must provide accurate contact information and reasonably cooperate with delivery scheduling.

15. CUSTOMER CONTACT INFORMATION

Customers are responsible for providing an accurate:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Telephone number

  • Delivery address

when placing an order.

Customers should notify NC Discount Furniture promptly if their contact information changes.

NC Discount Furniture is not responsible for delays resulting solely from inaccurate customer contact information where the information was provided incorrectly by the customer.

16. DELIVERY ADDRESS

Customers are responsible for reviewing the shipping address before completing checkout.

Once merchandise has entered fulfillment or shipped, an address change may:

  • Be unavailable

  • Require manufacturer approval

  • Require carrier approval

  • Delay shipment

  • Require rerouting

  • Result in additional freight charges

Customer-requested rerouting or address changes may result in additional costs that are the customer's responsibility where permitted by law.

Do not assume an address has been changed until NC Discount Furniture confirms the change.

17. PO BOXES

Large furniture generally cannot be delivered to:

  • PO Boxes

  • APO/FPO addresses

  • Locations that cannot accommodate freight delivery

Certain small-parcel merchandise may be eligible for alternative addresses depending on the carrier.

Contact NC Discount Furniture before ordering if you are unsure whether your location can receive the merchandise.

18. ALASKA, HAWAII & OTHER NON-CONTIGUOUS LOCATIONS

Standard shipping or delivery availability may be limited to the contiguous United States for certain products.

Orders to:

  • Alaska

  • Hawaii

  • U.S. territories

  • Islands

  • Remote locations

may require:

  • Additional freight charges

  • Alternative carriers

  • Freight-forwarding arrangements

  • Longer delivery times

Customers should contact NC Discount Furniture before ordering merchandise for these locations when delivery eligibility or cost is not shown at checkout.

19. REMOTE & LIMITED-ACCESS LOCATIONS

Additional charges or delivery restrictions may apply to locations involving:

  • Islands

  • Ferry access

  • Remote rural areas

  • Restricted roads

  • Mountain roads

  • Long private driveways

  • Gated communities

  • Limited truck access

  • Restricted bridges

  • Unpaved roads

  • Other unusual delivery conditions

NC Discount Furniture will communicate known additional charges when reasonably practicable.

20. APARTMENTS, CONDOMINIUMS & MANAGED BUILDINGS

Customers are responsible for identifying building requirements before delivery.

These may include:

  • Elevator reservations

  • Loading-dock reservations

  • Delivery-hour restrictions

  • Building access

  • Security procedures

  • Parking restrictions

  • Certificates of Insurance

  • Move-in fees

  • Delivery permits

Failure to satisfy building requirements may result in a delayed or unsuccessful delivery.

Applicable storage or redelivery fees may be the customer's responsibility.

21. CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE

Some buildings require a delivery carrier to provide a Certificate of Insurance, or COI.

Customers must notify NC Discount Furniture or the delivery provider sufficiently in advance if a COI is required.

We will make reasonable efforts to coordinate available documentation with the applicable carrier.

NC Discount Furniture cannot guarantee that every delivery provider will satisfy every building's insurance requirements.

22. CUSTOMER MUST MEASURE BEFORE ORDERING

Customers are responsible for determining whether merchandise can fit through the complete delivery path and into the intended location.

Measure:

  • Exterior doors

  • Interior doors

  • Door frames

  • Hallways

  • Corners

  • Stairways

  • Landings

  • Elevators

  • Elevator doors

  • Ceiling height

  • Gates

  • Building entrances

  • Intended room

Please compare these measurements with the product dimensions before purchasing.

23. FURNITURE THAT DOES NOT FIT

Merchandise that does not fit:

  • Through a doorway

  • Through a hallway

  • Up or down stairs

  • Into an elevator

  • Through a building entrance

  • Into the intended room

is not considered damaged or defective.

If delivery cannot be completed because of insufficient customer access, the customer may be responsible, where permitted by law, for applicable:

  • Redelivery charges

  • Storage fees

  • Outbound freight

  • Return freight

  • Additional labor

  • Handling charges

  • Other carrier costs

Any requested return is subject to the NC Discount Furniture Return & Refund Policy.

24. PREPARE FOR DELIVERY

Customers should prepare the delivery path before the carrier arrives.

Please:

  • Remove obstacles

  • Clear the intended room

  • Secure pets

  • Keep children away from the active delivery area

  • Remove fragile items

  • Remove wall décor near tight passageways

  • Protect valuable belongings

  • Ensure building access is available

  • Reserve elevators when necessary

Delivery teams generally will not move existing furniture unless that service has been expressly included.

25. STAIRS & DIFFICULT ACCESS

Some delivery providers limit the number of stair flights included with a delivery.

Additional charges may apply for:

  • Multiple flights of stairs

  • Difficult staircases

  • Long carries

  • Unusual access

  • Additional labor

  • Specialized equipment

Customers should disclose unusual delivery conditions before shipment whenever reasonably possible.

White-Glove orders are also subject to the White-Glove Delivery Terms.

26. DELIVERY APPOINTMENTS

A responsible adult at least 18 years old should be available during scheduled furniture deliveries unless the applicable carrier permits another arrangement.

The person accepting delivery should be prepared to:

  • Provide access

  • Direct placement

  • Inspect merchandise

  • Identify visible damage

  • Sign delivery documentation

The person accepting delivery is considered authorized to receive the merchandise on behalf of the customer.

27. DELIVERY WINDOWS

Furniture carriers may provide a delivery window rather than an exact arrival time.

Arrival may be affected by:

  • Traffic

  • Weather

  • Previous deliveries

  • Road conditions

  • Delivery complexity

  • Vehicle issues

  • Other circumstances

Customers should remain reasonably available throughout the confirmed delivery window.

28. MISSED DELIVERY APPOINTMENTS

If a customer or authorized representative is unavailable for a confirmed delivery appointment, additional charges may apply.

These may include:

  • Redelivery fees

  • Storage

  • Additional freight

  • Carrier fees

  • Handling charges

A missed delivery does not cancel the order.

29. FAILURE TO SCHEDULE OR ACCEPT DELIVERY

Customers must reasonably cooperate in scheduling and receiving merchandise.

If a customer:

  • Fails to respond to repeated scheduling attempts

  • Repeatedly postpones delivery

  • Refuses to schedule delivery

  • Cannot provide required building access

  • Otherwise prevents completion of delivery

the merchandise may be placed into storage or returned according to carrier or vendor procedures.

The customer may be responsible for applicable:

  • Storage

  • Redelivery

  • Freight

  • Handling

  • Warehouse

  • Return transportation

charges where permitted by law.

Failure to accept delivery does not constitute an approved cancellation.

30. STORAGE CHARGES

Storage charges may apply when merchandise is ready for delivery but cannot be delivered because of circumstances within the customer's reasonable control.

Examples include:

  • Customer is not ready to receive furniture

  • Construction is incomplete

  • Customer repeatedly postpones delivery

  • Building access is unavailable

  • Customer fails to respond to scheduling

  • Customer misses confirmed appointments

Actual storage charges imposed by the delivery provider or warehouse may be passed through to the customer where permitted by law.

31. INSPECT YOUR FURNITURE AT DELIVERY

Customers should inspect furniture carefully at delivery whenever reasonably possible.

For freight, Room-of-Choice, and White-Glove deliveries, inspect the merchandise while the delivery team is present.

Check for:

  • Scratches

  • Dents

  • Chips

  • Cracks

  • Tears

  • Broken components

  • Damaged glass

  • Damaged stone

  • Incorrect merchandise

  • Missing pieces

  • Visible freight damage

32. VISIBLE SHIPPING DAMAGE

If visible damage is present:

  1. Photograph the damage.

  2. Photograph the entire item.

  3. Photograph damaged packaging.

  4. Notify the delivery team.

  5. Clearly note the damage on the delivery receipt, Proof of Delivery, or Bill of Lading whenever possible.

  6. Retain a copy or photograph of the delivery documentation.

  7. Contact NC Discount Furniture promptly.

Do not sign a statement indicating that merchandise was received in good condition when significant visible damage is present.

33. CONCEALED DAMAGE

Some transportation damage may not become apparent until after merchandise is unpacked.

If concealed damage is discovered:

  • Photograph the merchandise

  • Photograph the packaging

  • Retain the packaging

  • Retain product and shipping labels

  • Do not attempt significant repairs

  • Contact NC Discount Furniture promptly

Damage and defect claims are governed by the NC Discount Furniture Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy.

34. DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY REFUSE DAMAGED MERCHANDISE

Customers should not automatically refuse an entire shipment because one item or component is damaged.

When reasonably possible, contact NC Discount Furniture before refusing merchandise.

Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate action may be to:

  • Accept the merchandise with damage noted

  • Refuse only the severely damaged item

  • Accept undamaged pieces

  • Allow a repair

  • Obtain replacement parts

  • Obtain replacement merchandise

Unauthorized refusal may result in additional freight, storage, or handling expenses.

35. REFUSED DELIVERIES

Refusing delivery does not constitute an approved cancellation or return.

If a customer refuses otherwise conforming merchandise without authorization, the customer may be responsible, where permitted by law, for applicable:

  • Original freight

  • Return freight

  • Storage

  • Handling

  • Redelivery

  • Warehouse fees

  • Other carrier charges

Any cancellation or return remains subject to the applicable NC Discount Furniture policy.

36. PROPERTY DAMAGE DURING DELIVERY

If you believe a delivery provider damaged your home or property during delivery:

  1. Notify the delivery team before departure whenever reasonably possible.

  2. Photograph the affected property.

  3. Photograph the surrounding area.

  4. Note the concern on available delivery documentation.

  5. Contact NC Discount Furniture promptly.

NC Discount Furniture may coordinate the claim with the applicable delivery provider or its insurer.

Do not make unnecessary permanent repairs before adequate documentation has been obtained unless immediate action is required for safety or to prevent additional property damage.

37. SHIPPING DAMAGE VS. MANUFACTURING DEFECTS

Transportation damage and manufacturing defects are different issues.

Shipping Damage

Generally occurs while merchandise is:

  • In transit

  • Handled by a carrier

  • Transferred between freight facilities

  • Delivered

Manufacturing Defect

Generally arises from the product's:

  • Materials

  • Construction

  • Workmanship

  • Factory-installed components

Both are handled primarily under the NC Discount Furniture Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy, with manufacturer warranty matters additionally governed by the Warranty & Service Policy.

38. ASSEMBLY

Assembly is not automatically included with every delivery method.

Small-parcel and standard freight merchandise may require customer assembly.

When assembly is included with a White-Glove or other delivery service, the included assembly will be identified in the applicable delivery terms.

NC Discount Furniture does not recommend assuming that assembly is included unless it is specifically stated.

39. FREE SHIPPING

A product advertised with Free Shipping means that the customer is not separately charged the standard shipping amount applicable to that completed sale.

Free Shipping does not mean that:

  • Transportation has no cost

  • White-Glove Delivery is included

  • Return freight is free

  • Redelivery is free

  • Storage is free

  • Customer-requested rerouting is free

  • Specialized access charges are included

If a discretionary return or customer-caused failed delivery occurs, actual freight or related costs may apply under the applicable NC Discount Furniture policies.

40. SHIPPING & DELIVERY FEES

Shipping and delivery charges may include:

  • Freight

  • Residential delivery

  • White-Glove service

  • Assembly

  • Liftgate service

  • Remote-area surcharge

  • Stair fees

  • Long-carry fees

  • Storage

  • Redelivery

  • Address-change fees

  • Specialized handling

Applicable charges will be disclosed when known and reasonably practicable.

Certain charges may arise after shipment because of circumstances specific to the customer's property or delivery request.

41. SHIPPING & DELIVERY FEES ARE GENERALLY NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE INCURRED

Shipping, freight, White-Glove delivery, assembly, expedited service, special handling, and similar service costs generally are non-refundable once the service has been performed or the expense has been incurred, except where:

  • NC Discount Furniture is responsible for the applicable failure

  • Applicable law requires otherwise

  • NC Discount Furniture expressly agrees otherwise

42. DELIVERY DELAYS AFTER SHIPMENT

After merchandise has shipped, final delivery may be affected by circumstances outside the reasonable control of NC Discount Furniture, including:

  • Carrier congestion

  • Weather

  • Road closures

  • Freight-terminal delays

  • Delivery-route availability

  • Regional scheduling

  • Natural disasters

  • Government restrictions

  • Labor disruptions

  • Vehicle breakdowns

  • Other transportation conditions

NC Discount Furniture will make reasonable efforts to obtain updated information and assist with delivery concerns.

43. WEATHER & SAFETY

Delivery providers may postpone or reschedule delivery when conditions are unsafe.

Safety-related delays may result from:

  • Hurricanes

  • Tropical storms

  • Tornadoes

  • Flooding

  • Snow

  • Ice

  • Severe thunderstorms

  • Road closures

  • Other hazardous conditions

Delivery will be rescheduled when reasonably possible.

44. LOST SHIPMENTS

If tracking information indicates that merchandise may have been lost in transit, contact NC Discount Furniture.

We may:

  • Contact the carrier

  • Open a carrier investigation

  • Contact the manufacturer

  • Verify warehouse records

  • Arrange an appropriate remedy after the shipment status is reasonably established

Customers should not place a duplicate order solely because tracking appears delayed without first contacting NC Discount Furniture.

45. MULTIPLE-BOX SHIPMENTS

Some products ship in multiple cartons.

One carton may arrive before another.

Before reporting an item as incomplete, customers should review tracking information to determine whether additional cartons are still in transit.

If all cartons show delivered and components are missing, contact NC Discount Furniture.

46. INCORRECT MERCHANDISE

If merchandise materially different from the customer's order confirmation is delivered, contact NC Discount Furniture promptly.

Do not:

  • Assemble

  • Install

  • Modify

  • Use

  • Discard packaging

for incorrectly delivered merchandise unless instructed otherwise.

Incorrect merchandise claims are handled under the Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy.

47. ORDER CHANGES AFTER SHIPMENT

Once merchandise has shipped, changes to:

  • Product

  • Quantity

  • Configuration

  • Delivery destination

may no longer be possible.

Customer-requested rerouting may result in additional charges.

Cancellation eligibility is governed by the NC Discount Furniture Cancellation & Order Change Policy.

48. DELIVERY DOES NOT CREATE A GENERAL RETURN RIGHT

Successful delivery does not create a trial or approval period unless expressly stated.

Furniture purchases remain subject to the NC Discount Furniture Return & Refund Policy.

Merchandise is not returnable merely because the customer:

  • Changes their mind

  • Dislikes the size

  • Dislikes the comfort

  • Changes décor

  • Determines the product does not fit

  • Prefers another finish

  • Finds another product elsewhere

except where a return is specifically authorized under the Return & Refund Policy or required by law.

49. RELATIONSHIP TO WHITE-GLOVE DELIVERY TERMS

Orders receiving White-Glove Delivery are subject to both:

  • This Shipping & Delivery Policy; and

  • The NC Discount Furniture White-Glove Delivery Terms

If a White-Glove-specific provision addresses a delivery circumstance more specifically, that provision will apply to the White-Glove service, subject to applicable law.

50. RELATIONSHIP TO DAMAGED & DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE POLICY

Shipping damage, concealed damage, manufacturing defects, missing components, and incorrect merchandise are governed primarily by the NC Discount Furniture Damaged & Defective Merchandise Policy.

A damage claim does not automatically become a return or refund.

51. RELATIONSHIP TO CANCELLATION & RETURN POLICIES

Orders that have reached shipment or delivery are also subject to the:

  • Cancellation & Order Change Policy

  • Return & Refund Policy

Refusing delivery does not bypass those policies.

52. LEGALLY REQUIRED RIGHTS

Nothing in this Shipping & Delivery Policy is intended to waive, restrict, or eliminate any cancellation, refund, warranty, shipment-delay, consumer-protection, or other right that cannot legally be waived.

Where applicable federal, state, or local law requires a different notice, cancellation right, refund, or remedy, applicable law controls.
